All livings things are made of molecules, and some are made of bigger molecules called macromolecules. Macromolecules are large molecules made up of other microscopic molecules. Macromolecules play an important role in life, they are used for energy, to store energy, provide structural support and speed up the process of biochemical reactions. There are four main types of macromolecules: Proteins, Lipids, Nucleic acids, and Carbohydrates. All of the macromolecules have there own function, structure, and identification, not all of the molecules are considered polymers. Lipids however, are not polymers. A polymer is monomers chain linked together by covalent bonds.
